Google data for local energy and climate policy
08 October 2025, 15:00 – 16:30
Online
This autumn, Google will make its energy and climate data available to European municipalities.
Google is a household name when it comes to precise and actionable map data, yet the data it can present on topics of climate and energy relevance is less well-known. It is our pleasure to present it the possibilities and use cases to you in a dedicated workshop.
As one of a select few organisations worldwide with access to Google’s energy and climate data, Climate Alliance has been working with the tech giant to tailor this powerful data to the needs of municipalities – testing data sets and providing input improve its usability over the last years. We look forward to sharing our insights with you on 8 October! Join us and learn about the types of data Google will make available as well what municipalities can do with it.
Together we will explore the characteristics of Google data on
- Electric vehicle charging stations by census, postal code and location
- Land surface temperature and roof reflectivity (albedo).
- Local traffic signal system efficiency (traffic signal level of service)
- Tree canopy percentage
- Building design and solar feasibility
