Mobility

For environmentally friendly local transport

We call for comprehensive strategies towards a sustainable mobility system.

Air pollution, lack of space, health hazards – our infrastructure and transport systems pose many challenges. Equal access to mobility is crucial for social participation and economic development. To be ready for the tomorrow, we must focus on comprehensive strategies today. This includes decarbonising mobility; promoting walking, cycling and public transport; and designing transport infrastructure in a way that is fair for everyone.

Taking climate action to the streets

Motivating people to use sustainable modes of transport, the inclusive design of local infrastructure, and tools for analysing and evaluating local conditions – this is how Climate Alliance actively supports municipalities in making local mobility more sustainable.

The CITY CYCLING campaign, particularly popular in Germany but implmented enthusiastically abroad, is a flagship project of our network. With low-threshold measures, it achieves that which is also essential in other areas – inspiring people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles and set an example for climate protection. Discover CITY CYCLING!

The popular CITY CYCLING campaign invites both local politicians and citizens to hop on their bicycles in their communities, thereby promoting cycling, climate protection, health and an enhanced quality of life. Municipalities in Germany can also take advantage of the accompanying RADar! and BIKE MONITOR platforms – a participatory tool and data portal that can be used independently or in tandem to improve local cycling infrastructure.
