Where does the renovation journey begin?

We need to renovate, that much is clear. Yet how should municipalities get started on this mammoth task? On the one hand, they can and must begin with their own buildings and thereby set an important example. On the other hand, the potential for energy savings is significantly higher in privately-owned building stock, but reaching private building owners is challenging. All the while, they mustn’t lose sight of energy poor households, which are typically more severely affected by the disadvantages inefficient building structures bring.

Climate Alliance is aware of the challenges inherent in building renovation and offers guidance both through project work and practical support. We offer campaigns and communication materials to address private building owners, we advocate for ambitious and clear targets at the European and at national levels, we support the fight against energy poverty as leaders of the EU’s EPAH initiative, we manage a community of practice on the topic of one-stop shops, and we provide concrete tips for energy savings.
